Scleral Fixation of Dislocated Single-Piece Foldable Intraocular Lens (C-FlexTM) Using Temporary Externalization of the Haptics
Kim Sang-Kook

Abstract
Purpose : To describe a new modified technique of externalization of the haptic of a dislocated the C-flex intraocular lens (IOL) through a small corneal incision.

Materials and Methods : In my 3 surgical cases, dislocated IOLs were managed by pars plana vitrectomy, stabilization of the IOL in the anterior chamber, and temporary externalization of the haptic through a clear corneal incision. The 10-0 polypropylene suture was tied to the externalized haptic and the IOL was repositioned into the posterior chamber.

Results : The IOL remained in the stable central position in all eyes. Best corrected visual acuity was improved and the mean postoperative change of refractive error in spherical equivalent was -0.5 diopters. There were no intraoperative and postoperative complications, and no patient required further surgical intervention.

Conclusion : This modified scleral fixation technique is a simple and effective alternative to other methods for repositioning posteriorly dislocated IOLs in these cases.
